Welcome to Dog Training Guidance.

Put simply - a well trained dog is a delight and a member of the family you can really be proud of.

You can take him to the beach. You can take him in the park. You can have that and more... with a bit of basic obedience training. It's not difficult and it's not expensive. All you need is love and patience, and be willing to give your dog the time he needs to become that fantastic companion you've always wanted.

Before you begin.

The very first thing you need to have firmly set in your mind is that YOU are the key to your dog's success. To be a successful dog trainer you need to remember:

  • Be Calm and Understanding - remember you're going to teach your dog something that's totally alien and frankly pointless as far as he's concerned.
  • Expect LOTS of Mistakes - And that's from both of you.
  • Be Consistent - Make sure everyone involved in training is using exactly the same commands, otherwise it will get very confusing for your dog.

All Dogs are Different.

One dog might be house trained within a week, while another of the same breed takes 4 months. Just the same as us, some humans are great at maths while others struggle. We all have our strengths and weaknesses.

Most important of all - HAVE FUN - BOTH YOU AND YOUR DOG.

No-one learns well when they're bored. Keep training fun with lots of play and tasty treats, not the same dull kibble he has every meal.
