Toy Dog Breeds:

Toy and very small dogs have often been bred purely as companion animals that are small enough to fit on a persons lap. This has led them to have a more sedate and soft nature than their larger cousins.

Some Toy dog though are working dogs, such as Yorkshire terriers whose small size was useful when hunting rats.

Owners put off training a very small dog as they feel it is either un-necessary or they fear the dog may be harmed.

But every dog benefits from training as it stimulates the mind and helps to strengthen the bond with the owner.

Toy breeds are re-known for there love of attention and thrive when they can be with their owner all the time. Some toy breeds can be picky about their food.
