Pugs - Huge Personality, Big Heart and A Lot of Will Power.

Average Size and Lifespan: Very small, 13 years +.

Pugs are not highly susceptible to any genetic conditions and a well bred individual should lead a long and happy life.

Exercise Levels: Pugs do not need a great deal of exercise and should be watched in hot weather as they are prone to overheating.

A 30 minute walk twice a day is sufficient so long as they get plenty of opportunity to play.

Grooming: Pugs have a lot of wrinkles on their bodies and these can trap dirt and moisture against the skin. If this is not cleaned out on a regular basis then the skin can become irritated and itchy and in severe cases can even become infected. The wrinkles are easily cleaned with a slightly damp cloth every few days. Pugs also tend to shed throughout the year so benefit from weekly brushing.

Temperament:Pugs are real fun loving dogs and like to have their owners close at all times. They are very playful and will entertain their owners for hours. Pugs are also known for being rather stubborn and strong willed.

Ease of Training:Low - medium. Pugs can be very stubborn and are masters of pretending to dumb, when actually they are very bright little dogs. Food based training is by far the most popular with pugs as they tend to be very greedy and will do anything for a treat or two.

Special Training: Pugs love to entertain and often the more praise they get the more enthusiastic about their training they become. Tricks and anything to get people clapping will motivate them more than advanced obedience.
