Hound Dogs:

Three different types of hound are recognized:

Sight hounds - find and track prey using sight alone. Often very agile dogs which will use speed as their main weapon.

Scent hounds - strong sense of smell and direction to sniff out hidden prey. These breeds don't have the speed of the sight hounds but make up for that with barrels of stamina and determination.

Hound - general hound which uses a combination of sight, scent and commands to find prey.

Hounds are bred to follow and chase prey as opposed to fetching or flushing, this being the case many hounds have a strong urge to kill what they catch and many are not good with smaller pets.
