Training Dogs Advanced Commands

Doberman

Advanced command training is a great way keep your dogs' mind active and healthy. An obedient dog that does as it's told is a pleasure to take for a walk and if he knows a few tricks as well than that's a bonus.

Breeds which need to have lots of mental stimulation will certainly enjoy the challenge of learning more commands than the basic sit, heel, recall, lie down and to look at you when you say his name.

This does not mean that other dogs wont love more training as well and even dog breeds reknown for their stubborness in other aspects of training often love to do tricks because of all the attention they get for it.

At least a little advanced training should be taught to all dogs as it helps with safety and politeness, such as 'wait' and 'leave' - which can prevent a dog from bolting out of the house onto a busy road and stop him quickly if he looks like he's going to eat something bad.

Advanced training is so called because it takes longer to teach, and often requires more control - not because it is only for dogs who want to compete in dog obedience.
